Aaannnndd...Here's Temp! Or, rather, Aurcoralu Lightwave ForgeTemper, "Temp" for short. And just sos y'all know, his name is "Temper" the verb (as in, to temper steel or glass), not the noun. Grr homonyms...
Anyhow, when I'm drawing gryphons on my own and not intentionally splicing two animals, this is what I get. Temp here is basically a "breed standard" for my own gryphon species...more about them later, I think. Temp is not actually a character from my novel series; think of him more as a substitute.
Actually, that's exactly what he is. I've been modeling my gryphon characters in 3-D in the program LightWave, and Temp is my "Template" (the actual origin of his name...I swear not all of my chars' names are this derivative, sorry ) for all the others; a base form to alter to fit each individual gryphon. He sort of became a character of his own as I was working on him, though...so although he isn't a main character, he's still getting a cameo or two. In the meantime...enjoy the really crappy ref, haha! I had fun with this...I luff my sketchy lil' gryphs.
Other info: Full name: Aurcoralu (Ar-Core-Ah-Loo) Lightwave ForgeTemper, "Temp" Sex: Male Age: 21 (gryphon and human ages roughly equivalent) Species: Variat gryphon Height: 5'4" Wingspan: 21 feet
Also: the ear color is not natural. Just so you know. It does have a point. I'm just not going to tell you yet!

I love the ears! And nice style there with the digital painting. I have trouble with the right-brain thing and rely really heavily on lines, myself. *kinda jealous* D:

Epic Griffin! I do love your artwork. Oh! By the way, I've finished the head and two of the neck feathers on Embryn. Corel Painter Essentials is no fun to work in, but produces unmatched results. >.> I'm still deciding whether or not to do the scale-pattern on her. Ahem, so to speak, it's a bit difficult. But i'll give it a whirl. Once again, fantabulous work on Aurcoralu!
Me, too...that's why I'm trying to force myself away from lines, although I still prefer that style. I still need lines to draw the original sketch, but I usually try to cover them over later with fur or feathers. And thank you so much!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
