Another snowflake, for the art teacher at my school. I'm not actually taking any art classes right now (besides computer animation with Lightwave and Modeler), but she was wonderful when I needed to make an art portfolio for college and helped me out. She recently had surgery for breast cancer, so I made her this.
Just some unicorns "sparring." This is the first time I've tried to make the sections "cross" each other (the horns), and I don't think I got the angle exactly right, but maybe next time...
I think the angles used when first sketching it out (if you did sketch it first) were fine, since the crossed horns at the top are aligned. The rest of them are off because of the folds in the paper. The thickening each time you fold it makes the edges not line up perfectly, thus anything crossing the fold won't line up once it's cut. If it's really annoying, my way of solving it is to cut those details after I unfold it. Though usually my designs don't wrap in such a way that it's too noticeable.
Haha, yeah, I know! (whenever I post snowflakes, I'm always careful to put the "first" side on top, because it's always closest to the original design and the least likely to have ugly slipups ) I try to be as careful as I can with making sure the edges line up properly, but obviously it doesn't always work perfectly...hmm. It doesn't usually make much of a difference, though; this peice just makes it more obvious than usual.
If you folded it accordion-style instead of half-half-half, the misalignment from folding might be less obvious. I wouldn't really know though; most of my designs are six-sided, so I have less distortion along the sdges to deal with.
Maybe; I dunno, mostly the deviation isn't serious enough for me to bother about it. I use these mostly as personal de-stressors; they're nowhere near as intricate as yours! Next time I do one, though, I'll try folding them back-and-forth; it's a good idea!
